How tight of torque converter with stock turbo?

Has anybody on here ever ran a really tight torque converter with a stock HX-35 turbo on a daily driver/tow rig? My long term goal is to add a set of RIPs twins (HX-35/B2) and 155hp injectors to go along with my Comp but I can't afford to do that and a billet transmission (will be going with a Goerend) at the same time. What I would like to do is put the transmission in this winter and then later next summer or winter do the twins and injectors when I can afford them. I've got a friend who ran one of Dave's converters with a 10/20 stator with his BD twins and really liked it but we aren't sure if it would lock up too low to spool my 35? It wouldn't have to be an ideal setup because it would only be for a few months to maybe a year at the longest but I don't want to do something that's going to make my truck worthless for towing either. I'm not doing hardly any extremely heavy towing so I'm thinking that the extra power from my Comp should make up for the tighter converter as long as I watch my EGTs.

I have a Suncoast 91% in my HTS and really like it and the way it shifts. I haven't had the opportunity to tow heavy yet, but just pulling around my 24hp tractor and implement, it does great.

Google, Mohave Green. They make a torque converter for us Cummins guys that has a 400 rpm lower stall for about $650. From what I have read from other guys using this torque converter, they love it and have claimed a increase in fuel mileage around town.

I had a Goerend 800/300 and a HY35. I'm at 5800 feet of elevation and I can tell you it was horrible. I couldn't tow and the convertor brought my shifts down soo much that it was in and out of the powerband. In talking with Dave Goereand and Brown Diesel, it was determined that at my elevation I just wasnt making enough power with out boost to stall the tight convertor. At the time I was running RV275s and an Edge Comp. Dave custom built me an all left hand cut stator and its spools just like a dream. So a word to the wise if you are at elevation to possibly run a little looser convertor. Just my 2 cents

Problem is, the single surface LU clutch is the weak point. They don't mention adding any other plates to the LU clutch. This would explain the difference in price compared to ATS or others.

Go with a 91% of your choice..... It will spool slower than the stocker, but will be sweet with the twins..... Any lower stall speed converter will spool slower than stock, but will be more efficient.
