Mine does the same thing, I've tried everything under the sun to help it to no avail. I keep hearing 19-20* timing would help smooth it out but I dont have the $$ for studs let alone replacing the headgasket.

You shouldn't need studs to run 19 or even 20* ive been running my p-pumped 24ver with 22* for nearly 3 months and no problems yet

Haisley recomends 18*-22* for daily drivers

Just trying to help out

i have now learned that the problem you are having is the same one i was, it's the 370's the spray pattern is different from stock and is not injecting fuel at the right place in the cylinder. putting more fuel too it only makes the problem worse. keep your timing in the 16-17 era and just run those DV's with your stock injectors. my stock injectors with Schieds laser cuts (available from Bobcat698 who also gives excellent tech advice) made a bigger difference than my 370's ever though about. and the best part is the engine runs right with no stumble and better fuel ecomony and smoke OMG.

So Chop,
You're saying you have fixed your shudder problem by removing the 370's? And on the smoke, you're saying you get planty now? I have been thinking about DVs for a while, but have been concerned it might make too much smoke (like there is such a thing ).

Thanks,
Chris

yup, thats is right get rid of those 370's i have more power now than i ever thought about with those 370's and the smoke is much heavier and thick, but if your worried about too much smoke just dont keep your foot in it. i can keep mine from smoking if i want or just coal train down the road if thats what i feel like doing. but seriously get rid of those 370's and stick a set of schieds laser cut DV's in there and you will be amazed. the DV's only cost like $270 and they are not hard to put in if you have the socket for them.
give them a try and i bet you will be amazed
