The problem is when you start going to 1300°, then 1400°, then 1500° and the second turns into the last 4½ minute climb over the mountain pass at high EGT & boost.

How about the long slow climb out of the river valley?
Valley City? I crossed ND in a 924 Porsche with a blown headgasket (lost #3 & #4). I never thought I was going to get past the Valley City climb.
Back to EGTs. It doesn't take a mountain pass to make the EGTs climb. A long easy hill, headwind and too much RFG and EGTs climb, engine temp rises, and you roast a cylinder.
