700hp is a LOT of power. Im defintely not saying that it cant be done, but its just a lot of power to have for a daily driver.

my dad has a 96 powerstroke with just under 600hp that we drive everyday and it gets 24 mpg drivin 70mph on the highway unless a cummins wont hold up to the hp i dont think it would be a problem. i would think you would have more problems with the rest of the drivetrain but i could be wrong.

Im not sure how "driveable" a 700 hp truck would be as a daily driver.
I would not want to try to handle a pickup truck (empty bed) on wet roads with 700 hp.

If horse power and diveability are the two things your after, Id probably keep it down between 300 ~ 400 hp.
Many may disagree with that.

No matter what you decide, it wont be the engine, it'll be the drivetrain that you will need to address first.

Rich.

Good gracious he must have $30k in that POS......I mean PSD to get 600-700hp......

Seriously though, you can make more power in a 12 valve, but for a daily driver, I think a 24v or a 3rd gen is your best bet. There are plenty of daily driven 600hp 3rd gens out there. Add nitrous and you're at 700 hp. Turn your boxes down and you've got a well mannered 450 hp daily driver. Heck my 24v does a good job as a daily driver (535hp). I've just got my boxes turned down. That is the advantages of the electronically controlled engines. If you want big power though, you can't beat the 12 valve.....at least until someone figures how to turn 12v rpm's.

What he didn't say was that it WAS a stroker and now it has a CTD!!

I drive mine everyday making around 650 - it loves the fuel in town but on the open highway I can still get it to around 18 with the box turned way down.

My '98 12v makes 400 at the wheels without the nitrous. It's my daily driver. There are still some fairly easy things I could do to get more out of it without sacrificing driveability. One would be to put the right size turbo on it-the one I have now it too big. Another would be some bigger deliver valves-mine are stock. Yet another would be to put the 60# valvesprings in (that I already have in a box) and up the governor to 4000 rpm.

Doing all this would probably yield a MORE driveable truck, and I'm guessing conservatively would add probably 50 or 60 hp at the wheels.
