Question How much horsepower do I have now?

I have a '97 with the NV 4500 5 speed tranny. The only things I have done so far, are put a BHAF on. slid my stock plate all the way up, plugged my waste gate hose, slid the AFC housing up about 3/4 of the way, and turned the star wheel up a little. The most boost I have seen is about 26 lbs. That is just my pick-up without any kind of a load. Anyway, does anybody have an idea what kind of horse I might have now? I started out with 215 stock. I don't know where to find a dyno in my area so I thought some of you guys might know. Thanks, Marv.

I dunno HP but my 97 5 speed 215 pump would run 25-26 lbs boost stock. I have a home made adj boost elbow now and run 33 lbs or so

MNorby, what's the boost elbow? Methinks I need to go search.

Thanks MDW, really 285 cool. And just think if it weren't for this site, and the helpful members,I wouldn't have a clue that I could do that. Now I'll try to break the 300 mark! P. S. Does anyone know where there is a dyno on the west slope of Colorado?

Im thinkin more like 230-240 at the wheels personally. Until you do a aftermarket fuel plate, i dont think you will be past 250

O. K. Thanks for the info guys. Which one would you think would be best to go with first, a 4" exhaust, or the tst #10 kit? And if I am sliding my AFC housing, do I still need to get the light spring kit for the AFC ?

Do a 10 plate and 3000 gsks and hold on. Dont waste the money on a 4 inch when you dont need it yet.

O,K. I think I understand the #10 plate, but what will the 3k spring kit do for me? I see a lot of guys have it, but I never did know what it was for exactly.

Think of the GSK

as a power band widener. I know that you have driven your ram stock and i can bet you money it starts to defuel at about 2200 rpms or so. The GSK will give you the illusion that your truck is faster, and newer to be honest with you. ITS A GREAT FEELING! The GSK will basically widen your powerband and allow you to fuel harder to at least 3000-3200 rpms, depending on your governer arm position, and plate position. Its a much better feelin over stock springs..
