I did a lot of searching about these dodge trannys. There are only 3 company to deal with... ATS, DTT(or is it DDT?) and Goerend Brothers in Iowa. I looked at all websites and DTR members with some abuse and mileage on their trannys and talked with all of them over the phone. I was most impressed with Dave Goerend. He is someone who answers the phone with dirty hands cause he does work himself and not some guy who wears dress pants to work. He is very knowlegeable and has learned be breaking stuff and tearing it apart to learn what happened and modify things to be very tough. At least that is my impression of him. I bought a Goerend and will do so again and again in future trucks. He also has a lifetime warranty on converters and 100k on trannys with no limits to use, such as heavy towing etc. Thumbs up to Dave! gbtransmissions.com

Those are great trannys for sure but not the only ones out there that are good. I researched for quite some time and finally went with a PDR and it is a very solid Trans. With a few whistles and bells it ran close to 5 bills though.

I have almost $4K in mine, and smile almost every time it shifts. If you plan on keeping your truck it is money well spent.

So far, only about $450 for the VB. This summer I plan on dropping in another $3100 for the rest of the tranny and then maybe by the end of the year the remaining $2000 for billet shafts.

I have about $4000 into the best Suncoast had to offer a couple of years ago.
The four main diesel trannys out there are about comparable in quality and price. What you want more is an good installer close by to use the brand he's familiar with.

My truck goes to Georend Bros. next week. I'll let you know then, but I figured a full tranny, 3 disc TC installed for under $4K. Lifetime warranty on the TC, 100K on the tranny, and I get to help wrench!

All Right!! Cool. You will love it. Also it will be fun to help Dave out. That is cool that he will/can allow that for insurance reasons. I really like my GB triple disk.
If you liked your truck before you will love it with the new trans.

$5K+ for complete DTT rebuild. And to repeat what others have said... everytime it shifts.
Mass Diesel did mine. He's local to me, about 65 miles away.

The top three or four tranny companys are very competitive....
You'll pay $3,000-3,500 if you do the install
You'll pay $4,000-4,500 for a fully installed rebuild
Add Billet shafts and a few options for the ultimate towing/racing tranny... add another $1,000.

Agree with above statement.... unless your a tranny Pro... find a good local factory installer!

Tranny upgrade

OR......if you have the time to spend (vacation), just make an appointment
with Dave and drive up there. He has an old house next to the shop to put
you up in, and is the nicest guy you could hope to meet. When you talk to
him on the phone, he is standing at a stainless steel bench rebuilding vb's
while answering your questions, via wireless headset.

If you like beautiful farming country and well kept multi-generational farm houses, you will love NE Iowa.
