how much for a clutch to hold around 400-500 hp?

My brother has an 02 with a six speed and it slips with the comp cranked up, wich it has done for a while, but now he says it's hard to get into gear. Does this sound like he needs to get a new clutch, and if so, how much would it cost? ( He has intake, exhaust, edge comp, and 33" tires.)

I have an 01 with the same deal, I would replace it with a south bend FE set up.

check with Tim at www.trediesel.com

An south bend FE will run you around 800-900 bucks, If he is wanting a clutch to sled pull with, and do boosted burn outs with, he will have to go to a DD set up. That will run him around 1800. These prices are not installed. There are probley cheaper clutches out there than SB. Some say there just as good and some say there not. You will have to be your own judge.

I realize everyone rates clutches in horsepower, but it's torque that kills clutches... with that said, I'd put an FE in it... best bang for the buck

yes I agree a big DD for sled pulling, I have a 3650DD in a 97 that is daily driven and it is to much clutch for that. I was going with the FE in a 01 that has and edge comp and DD150 injectors, that we tow heavy equipment with. ceramic clutches are much better than organic. I had an OFE in that 97 and 1 tug down the sled pull track smoked the organic side, but with the ceramic side we could still drive.

I was just looking prices up for my dads six speed last night. Thouroughbred diesel has an FE for 600, an OFE for 700, and whatever the big guy is for 800.

Not sure what comes with those, though..

The new Street SBC DD 3250, cheap (for a DD) and no need to worry about upgrading later down the road.

sounds backwards... probably the ConO for 600, OFE for $700, and the FE for $800

Sounds about right, I just glanced at them to give my dad a rough idea of what he was looking at. Either way, they're all good clutches (southbend), and you can't go wrong with them.

I also made my father very well aware of the fact that if he tries to buy something else I'll promptly shatter it to pieces on "accident" when I'm installing it for him.

"Oops, guess it's time to order southbend"
