How much boost can I run?

I have a stock truck with the TST PM3/R46,& straight pipe. It makes 25PSI now with the TST boost elbow on there and I was wondering if I could gain anything if I cranked in the allen screw and upped the boost. How much is enough? Since I have the stock clutch I only go up to level 6.

the hx-35 can run ~35 psi (no coincidence with the numbers being the same)

Is it safe to run that much with my truck being so close to stock?
Is there a decent enough power increase frome the added 10lbs of boost?

I'd advise getting a egt gauge, and with those mods your tranny/clutch won't like them, I still run the stock turbo and I hit around 40psi in lockup about 35-37 before lock-up. Egt's climb really fast though

The R46 remote has a oil temp and EGT/Pyrometer built in, I had to drill and tap the manifold for the thermal coupling. I have it set to back off fueling if the EGT excedes 1250deg., its a built in protection that comes with the R46 remote.

What I really want to know is, will more boost really give enough power to make it worth while.

I have the HY and I can notice a good bit of pickup. You wont harm anything and it will cool your egts allowing you to run a little more fuel.

The trick is to have enough boost (volume of air) to burn the available fuel. If you're not smoking at WOT at your max power settings, then you've got enough air at 25psi. Let the wastegate do its job. However, if you've got a manual boost controller, crank it up a bit and watch your gauges for +/- results.

ya man more boost will help with that fuel.When I first ran my comp I could hit like 35 and 1350 egt.Now that Ive added the smarty and plugged the wastegate I cant get past 1200 and on a cold night Ive seen near 50 psi.Not good I know ,but the truck is way faster with the added boost and way quieter under full throttle

I cranked it up to 32 PSI and I hauled a car about 425 miles, the EGT's stayed between 750 and 850 on level ground and got to the 900's on inclines so I guess its OK.
