Search BHAF. Big Honkin Air Filter. Just about everything you could want to know, and a bunch of stuff you probably don't.

I think you mean a replacement intake tube like the kind that come with some of the intake kits or the AFE torquetube. I have this on my to do list as well. I am just going to use an aluminum 4" 120 degree mandrel bend and weld another piece to that. Then I will smooth the weld down and get it ceramic coated inside and out. Back when I was into turbo imports we would get like 10-12 HP on the dyno and a huge turbo sound on a DSM from switching the stock rubber intake tube to a hard inlet tube. This was after an air filter upgrade and only from changing that 1 part out.

I really like the design of the AFE Torque Tube but it's gotta be the highest priced piece of cheap black plastic ever....why can't the chinese rip-offs copy and sell that instead of shiney turbos?

1. Find the air filter you want to use
2. Measure the ID of the air filter intake...where you would attach it to the turbo intake hose.
3. Ideally, you want to match the air filter intake ID to that of the factory turbo intake ID.
4. Go buy sch 40 pvc from your fav plumbing supply which has OD of exactly the same ID of the air filter & turbo intake ( IIRCC think 3.5").
5. Paint the pvc w/heat temp paint.
6. Put everything back together.
7. Cut about 6-8" of garden hose and cover the a/c line the filter will possibly now rest on to prevent the filter from wearing thru the a/c line.

From my understanding the pvc will work fine and conducts less heat xfer than metal, thus keeping the intake air lower. JMO.
