how to make 350 horsepower?
I have the truck in my sig, and I am looking to get some nice christmas gifts to myself this year. I am aiming for the 350-400 horsepower range, and i was wondering what is the easiest way for me to get to that level. Whether i need injectors and a programmer, or if i am gonna need to go to a bigger turbo. Just wondering what you guys think...

350 won't be a problem with stock turbo....400 would be pushing it a bit, IMO.
Add a Smarty will get you to 350 HP. A nice set of Mach 1.6's would an a nice addition for an added 100 hp.
This combo would allow you to avoid tapping the pump wire; always a good idea with a 99.
You would need gauges and have to sometimes drive by the EGT's.... until you get a bigger turbo.
Even an HX-35 (opps, you already have one) would make a big difference.... but a 61/12 would be perfect!

I agree with RJ but just go with Mach 4 injectors and you can control the power, heat, boost, smoke with the Smarty. Get some spring clamps on those intercooler boots as well. Dont see a filter in you sig. A BHAF mod will work pretty good and 3/4 the cost of an aftermarket one. Napa part number 2790 for the BHAF. Then make your on heat shield. An Edge Juice would also work nicely.

Yes, if he stays on the throttle for a while.... but could be manageable for short runs, say 5-10 sec.
Remember it's not how hot you get....it's how long you stay hot!
In the red (egt gauge) for 8-10 sec does not hurt anything on the Cummins, IMO (and from my experience).

I'd probably use either a Edge Juice by itself or a TST stacked with a used edge ez and a set of mach 1.6s. That way you have the ability to turn down the fuel if needed for heavier towing with the HX35.

How about the cracking people get in their turbine housings and heads?

Also have to remember that when running a Smarty box it usually lowers EGT's by 250-300*. So will running a larger exhaust by probably another 50-100*.
