my friend has a 01 and whats some black smoke and some upgrades. he wants a intake exhaust and would a edge ez make some smoke? he wants a programmer but just a mild one.

Guages first!! Then an ez. Thats what I started with. The ez alone will produce some smoke, spend the extra $$ and get the comp.

if ya have the edge itll give ya a decent cloud, but there's a lot to be desired. if ya wanna smoke, ya gotta pay a lil dinero lol. I put some 155hp injectors on top of my edge comp and aem brute force intake and believe me the ol' girl belches out her fair share of course that may be cause i still have the stocker hy35 oh and as far as a programmer goes, get a smarty. but when you get to that point then ya might as well spend the money on a tranny,

get a edge drag comp and unplug the map sensor. it will smoke like crazy

Sounds like you and your friend aren't the kind of guys that are going to be satisfied with the ammount of smoke the EZ will give. You'll need a wire tap box and some big injectors to make that super-cool black smoke. Go spend around $1000, then you'll be cool.

does he need a trans temp gauge if he has a 5 speed? and does smarty make a program for the 01 ctd? and if so which one jr or sr?

and as far as exhaust goes i know genos makes a muffler delete pipe but how do you get rid of the resonator?

Trans temp is for autos...... and yes smarty is available for 24 valves.
