Well, my buddy with the 2004 couldn't get away from work in time for the straight pipe conversion. I will keep you all posted. He's definitely interested.

It only voids the warranty on the original exhaust system, which you don't have anymore anyway. Go here and read about the Magnuson-Moss act.

Just as a warning....I've heard from many that the 03 trucks kind of have a ricer sound to them when straight piped. The best option I've seen for the 03 trucks is the 4" system offered by DPPI, but it's pricey.

I personally do not like the sound of the 03' with just a straight pipe. The 4" and 5" systems sound ok with a muffler, but the sound is a little different than what I am used to (pre 03) not as low and more pop and turbo noise. One customer has a 5" system (no muff)with a 6" tip behind a hybrid turbo that sounds pretty good, before the turbo swap it had a pop/growl at the higher RPM's.

i RElooked up what they (replacement straight pipe) cost @ geno's and they are in the 60 dollar range -- that is a rediculous price for a pipe IMO

to the post that asked if there would be much of a gain w/full 4" as opposed to replacement muffler pipe: the horsepower gains between the two would be comparable (nearly the same). the horsepower gain to dollars spent is astronomical for a full 4" system

Just bought my muffler elimination kit last night through Geno's Garage. Price was $69.00 and shipping was $8.95 total cost of $77.95 delivered to front door. Can't wait to install and let idle in driveway in morning to irritate the neighbor I don't like anyway.
