How long with high EGT's?
I am wanting to take my truck to the track for the first time tomorrow night, but am worried about high egt's. How long can my truck take it? On the street, with the comp on 5 my egt's seem to hit about 1500 degrees when I stay in it for a while, will a 1/4 mile (hopefully 15 seconds or less) be too long with that high of egt?

You should be ok. Typically you should try to limit yourself to around max of 1200 deg's. The hotter you go the harder its on parts.
I have drove pulling my RV at 1500 deg's pulling a hill. Don't recommend doing that but stuff happens. Those injectors arent very good. They just make heat and smoke. Down the road you should put in a better grade of injector or go back to stock. I have a set of jammer sticks rated at 125rwhp, they are the worst stick I have ever ran and I've ran a few sticks...

I suggest mach 1.6 or DDP stage 2-3. You even get better fuel mileage. What boost are you pulling? I bet that your turbo is starting to turn bronze?
Back before edm injectors they where a lot smoker. The jammer make abit more power than stock but there is a cost. I dropped my cruise egt's slightly from stock to ddp.
You could put on twins, I ran the 125rwhp jammer sticks and towed my RV. I might have got to 1200 deg's with slight smoke.

Yes it is a bronze, my truck makes right at 38 psi wot, in town I get 15-17 mpg, and highway I get about 21-23 mpg. I just have to get my egt's lower and am not as familiar with diesels as I wish I was.

I forgot your running the HY-35 turbo. You might also consider buying a slightly bigger turbo. The HY-35 has a pretty small turbine housing. That drives up the egt's. A HX-35 or a 3rd gen turbo is a good cheap upgrade.

I had a similiar issue with mine w/same injectors & Comp except it was getting to 1500F running the HX35 and a 14cm wastegated exhaust housing. I dropped the temps down to 1400F and picked up 2mph on the test hill when I went hybrid turbo.

what about 1700-1800*? I just put on some new era 435s with a stock WH1C turbo and during the test drive I was having fun but my EGTS were pegging my gauge.
if I pull my turbo off and drill through the scroll and open up the wastegate more will it help at all?

How do you guys feel about 1810 degrees at the end of the 1/4 mile?
By the way, I can drop my peak EGT's over 100 degrees by bumping the Adrenaline timing up to 10 degrees. I also noticed that my coolant temp goes higher when I bump timing. Hmmm....
EGT's do not tell the whole story, timing plays a huge factor in how much heat a motor can take. I do agree with Mike Holmen with regards to towing, I never let my truck sustain towing temps of much over 1200 degrees. Sure 1450 when I need to pass a slower vehicle but never sustain it that high for very long.

For short bursts, I wouldn't be concerned about EGT's. I've pegged my pyros numerous times, but that was on a dyno/racing/passing, never for a long period. If you peg your pyro before the 1/8th mile is up, then you might consider backing out. But at that point, its only another 5 seconds or so and then you'll be off the throttle coasting.

Bigblue, you should consider methanol/H2O spray, I think you could up size that turbo abit(lots). 1800 is darn toasty, but been done. At least water spray and cool off those valves. I remember seeing 1500 deg's daily, but I think thats what caused the head to cracked.
3rd gen's might have burnt out a few pistons but I hate starting rumors.
