might just be the way we drive ours or the way its set up, but we average 17-19 in town and around 22 or so on the highway. Go figure, my truck weighs in more and i have 3.55 gears and get better than you guys with the 3/4 ton trucks. Interesting ain't it. Thankfully diesel round here can be had for $2.39 or so a gallon.

You have to leave BC man it is only 78 c/l (2.94 g) where I fill at the card lock, We where in invermere with the 5th wheel and I was forved to pay 94.6 I nearly **** a brick.

Even at 80 c/L it is too much.

Saw diesel for 315.9 here today - what a ripoff. I found that speed has a lot to do with my mileage. 65 mph I get 21-22 mpg. 75mph I get 17-18 mpg. Still pretty good for a 6800 lb truck with all the power I need.

17-18 mpg from a 4x4 is not too bad. Here's my list of bomb's for mpg.

Air in air out. Less restrictive intake and exhaust(lose the stock muffler).
Synthetic fluids in engine and differential, manual transmission already has synthetic.
Timing box like an Edge Ez or VA. I picked the EZ because I can choose timing alone, the VA adds fuel.
EDM injectors. SMALL EDM's for mpg. Rv275 injectors will help too.
Air pressure. I have 60 lb in my tires. Also don't use high profile tires like 315's...I use the 265's with good results.
Clean your IAT. Intake air temp probe. This can affect mileage. Clean with brake cleaner.

The intake exhaust synthetic mods are minimal gain for mpg in my opinion. The timing box and injectors along with proper air pressure in good tires have improved my trucks mpg's.

I just recently changed from 275 to the Edge Jammer 3 injectors and have gotten a good boost in horsepower. I am going to do a road test this weekend and if my mpg has suffered much I will go back and change them out for the Jammer stage 1. (I had visions of Mario Andretti when I ordered the Jammer 3's).

My mpg's (prior to my recent Jammer 3's) have been 16-18 around town with alot of short stop and go. Highway mileage has always been over 20. A trip from Little Rock to Dallas in traffic at 80 mph when I could and in a hurry yielded a small fraction under 20 mpg.

I agree with dspencer completely, tires play a huge part in mpg...

But the second # on your tire is as important as the first.

On metric sizes like 315/75r16 The second # represents the sidewall hieght in refrence to the width of the tire.

For example this tire sidewall is 75% of 315 (the first #)

Heres a good chart http://www.onlineconversion.com/tire...conversion.htm

Play with the second # on this chart to see how much it can change a overall diameter...

Remember factory size tires on 2WD are 31.7" tall
and 4WD are 33.7" tall

Stay close to your factory height tires and your gears will do there job!!!

I have all the mountain views I need here, every sunny day beautiful views, within a hour I can be surrounded by mountains, we see a tax hike during tourist time also our prices are just lower to start with and so they should as we own it all and process most of it, could never figure out wy 5 miles from the shell plant it is one price and in Ontario 7000 km away it is 10 cents/Litre cheaper I guess shipping is free I am not sure of the most beautiful place in canada .....maybe you have been smoking some of that weed you bc guys are so fond of. Heres hoping the prices come down.

Looks like 22 mpg is the high side. I was getting 21mpg running 70mph. Someone just stole my muffler I'll have to check again.

My family and I just got back from a week long trip to the Oregon Coast and Portland, 1321 miles round trip including driving around sight seeing. With the mods in my signature I managed to get 19.54 mpg. I purchased the ventvisors and the tonneau cover for this trip trying to get it over 20 mpg. I didn't meet my goal but came pretty dang close, if I would have dropped my speed on the way back home from Portland down to 65 which is the speed limit instead of 72 I would have met my goal of 20mpg but after a week I was ready to get home. If I had 285/75/16's or smaller I would have easily gotten over the 20 hump with the rest of my mods.

Getting about 18/21 no load, towing a 5k boat I get about 14-15 depending on the rush. All considered 4" lift, 315MTR tires, it's like a tank going down the hwy @ 70 and still good mpgs. If you weigh the cost of another vehicle, insurance and fuel....I'd bet you'd still be ahead driving the dodge daily. Around town I drive 65-70 and "try" to keep my foot out of it and that nets the 18-19mpg in town. Driving style is most of it.

If the lead poster has an auto trans, his MPG is pretty good in my estimation.

In order of importance for MPG (jmo):
-- driving style--speed and acceleration
-- consolidating trips (cold engines are less efficient)
-- tire pressure (air 'em up)
-- clean filters (fuel and air)

Things you can add/do in order of bang/buck (jmo)
-- all the things above
-- synthetic driveline lubes (axles, tranny, t-case, etc)
-- High flow exhaust/intake
-- RV275 injectors
-- mild box like Edge EZ or Quadzilla XZT+ or Van Aaken, so on..
-- larger turbo or turbine housing.
