How to get the best mileage & power

I just bought a 1994 2500 regular cab 4x4 auto. It was completely stock with 127,000 on it. So far I've put a large cone airfilter on it made by green and im in the process of putting larger exhaust and gauges on it. I want to ckow what mods to put on to give me a little more power and maximize fuel mileage. I dont want to go crazy on the power because I cant afford to beef the auto yet. Should I bump the timing or put in a fuel plate? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I'd bump the timing a hair (say, 16.5 maybe 17) and grind your stock plate to a 100.

Keep the plate in stock position or farther back and your tranny will be much happier.

The overvalved guy beat me to it, and suggested the same thing I would have.

I wouldn't give up my GSK, but if you are wanting mostly milage, and some more power it is not needed. Sure make it more fun to drive though.

Make this two over valved guys that recommend more timing. Works wonders no matter how many valves you have,

Thanks for the replies I am working on getting a timing kit so the timing will be bumped in the near future. Would changing the injectors to something like 215's help me or hurt me?
