How does a bypass filter work?
I'm thinking of getting a bypass filter setup so I can run synthetic oil. I've seen some cheap remote filter mounts on ebay (perma-cool style), which in my mind would work just fine. But then I've seen the Amsoil bypass filter kits selling for pretty expensive. So does Amsoil's kit uses a special remote filter mount? Or would I be doing the same thing if I just get an ordinary oil filter mount and tap in from the turbo nut and exit at the oil filler tube? Would I lose oil pressure by tapping in by the turbo (the nut next to the turbo supply line above the oil filter)?

Sure you can make your own bypass filter. Problem you might run into is finding a remote mount that will take a fine enough filter. Bypass filters are normally in the 1-2 micron range, a regular oil or fuel filter isn't fine enough, some hydraulic filters are though.
