I have a 2000 Ram 4x4. Right now it's bone stock but I have a TST Powermaster stage 1 on the way that supposed to gain 60hp 160tq. Should I just leave the wastegate like it is stock or does it need to have some kind of mod to let the turbo build more boost?

 

not sure if yo uhave a hy or an hx (no sig) yo ushouldent need anymore boost with that box. if yo uhave a pyro just watch and see what it makes, if it gets a little hot, turn it up a little.

 

It's a 2000 model, how do I know if I have a hy or hx? Also, if I do need to turn it up a little, how do I go about that?

 

my 2000 had an hx35, when i blocked my wastegate it was worthless...waay overboosted. make it adjustable, much better

 

Too find out if you have a hx or hy pop the hood and look for the tag on the turbo. hx35 or hy35.

 

Didnt all autos come with the hy?

 

i have a 99 and i am curious to see how muck boost you can make without throwing codes. i have an edge comp w/ gauges. right now i get about 18 or 19lbs.

 

What kind of tranny do you have?

5 and 6 speed manuals have the HX-35.

Automatics have the HY-35.

True...but only on 01's and 02's.
All 2000 CTD's have an HX-35!

Disconnected mine and blocked it for 38 psi.

 

2001 was the first year for the baby hy9 . if you have a comp or any type of boost fooler you will be fine to block the waste gate and not throw codes .
