How do fuel plates work?
New to Cummins stuff; trying to see how these mods work. I've seen a lot of people have different size/number fuel plates. How do these work and what do they accomplish? Thanx for the help!

Welcome to DTR!!
Here is a basic writeup as to how to get more power out of your ram and a little more information
read and enjoy

Now how does a fuel plate work, i did not emphasize that in that write up so i will explain it. The fuel plate as you now should know goes inside the AFC housing, The plate can be slid towards the cab for less power and less fuel or towards the front of the engine for more power and more fuel. IN a basic nutshell, the fuel plates have a curve, please see my photo gallery for pictures of curves. the curve in conjunction with the governer arm is what controls your defueling, a plate like the zero has no defueling, so it puts out all out power at all times, a plate like my 100 (j shaped) has gentle fuel introduction before it goes into an all out fuel top end. And if you look at my banks plate, it has what i consider staged defueling, starts out agressive and gets less aggressive as the fueling goes through the fueling curve.
All these plates are, is a fueling curve for your truck. in the most basic sence...
Thanks and hope this helps
