How About Underdrive Pulleys

Something I've never heard mention of for these trucks is an Underdrive Pulley or even one in the same size just made out of something lighter weight to free up some HP.

I asked this same question several years ago and the response I got was it's not worth it. Our engines don't rev high enough for the pulley to become a drag.

I would agree 100%.. Its a total waste on an engine that sees 3,000 RPM as a maximum. Parasitic drag is a function of RPM cubed, so for a given loss that a gasser sees at 6,000 RPM ours is only 1/8th of that loss.....

Plus they are a pain in the but... alternator wont charge at idle, power steering is a bear at idle etc etc etc...

Leave that to the gasser guys who have to work hard for their extra power and dream about 400 ft*lbs . Who cares about an extra 5 f t*lbs when you make 900 !!!

Agreed. I think if there is one accessory to try to overcome the power loss by it, it is the fan. Have you ever heard that sucker when the clutch locks up and you rev the engine? Shiesh!

However, from what I hear there isn't a solution for that either.

Actually there is. Horton makes an electric fan clutch that replaces the factory clutch. Only problem is it's like $600 or so bucks.
