hotpipe to firewall clerance

for those of you with twins, how close is your hot pipe and lower turbo to your fire wall . i just got my twins bolted in today and the hot pipe to turbine inlet flange conection is about 1/2 inch away from the fire wall. i think mine are so close because the set i have use a spacer with external wastegate between the manafold and top turbo. the hot pipe is also wraped though.

i just dont want to actualy turn it into a fire wall

Just going by memory I think my PDR set is pretty close also, I don't think 1/2" but probably 1"

You'll be fine. IIRC all of mine were pretty close with no problems.

Just keep an eye on the insulation a friend of mine had his start to smolder. I think the tightest mine is to to firewall is 1". I haven't had any issues with mine.

If you have the insulation pull it out and put some of that heat reflective stuff on the firewall! My Hotpipe was wrapped but I still had problems, although it may be fine for a time I believe it is sustained heat that causes problems with the factory insulation. I am a firm believer in coating if nothing more then keeping the rust away it is very clean, and it can't do anything but help as far as keeping the heat in!

I've had good luck so far with Performance Coatings in Auburn, Wa. 98002 there number is 1-253-735-1919 and you want the 2000* Satin coating ask them to send you a flyer as they have 6 colors to choose from.
There turn-around time is more then I'd like but I think that is do to cure times between coats so they don't/won't cheat just to save time JMO.
While you have the housing off have it ported, then coated I had Brad @ Poncis Diesel Center port mine and man it sure looked much better after he worked it over, can't tell actual diff as a few things were changed at the same time but he sure did remove alot of material.
