Hot rodded VP44? Which is better??
There is a lot of VP44 that are available out there that have been modified. Which one is the best? What I'm looking for is about a 60 to 80 horse power increase that won't affect my mileage that bad and the dealer is reputable. Can you guys give me any suggestions.

I know some people don't like the hrvp, and they do have their quirks on different trucks, but I have one and love it. It is a big power boost. The only quirk mine has is when the engine is warm and is running above idle with no load. Then it will skip. Other than that, I love it.

My IP is currently bad. I can either rebuild it myself and not really be able to fix the problem inside because only one place will sell the part I need for $511 bucks or buy a stock reman or a hot rodded pump. I do want more power but don't want to sacrifice that much in fuel mileage. Would going with a reman pump and a edge box be better or go with a hot rodded pump. I'm currently thinking of going with the hot rodded pump. Any other suggestions???

I'm going back to a SO pump when my HR dies. It has habits I do not like, rough idle when hot doesn't bother me that much, but the surge when I'm in the fuel towing will drive me crazy. I love the power it has, but driveablilty is compromised a bit.

Stiil have mine on the shelf. Went back to the SO and my truck runs like a million dollars!!! The HRVP was cool for a month or two but drivability suffered so much! Made more hp sith the SO anyways. Just my $.02....

Who would be the best company to go through for the price and nobody has had any problems with their SO VP44.
As for the FASS, VULCAN, HOLLY pumps their a wast of money!!!!!! NAPA sells the in-line pump for 90's Chevy diesel for $70, with $30 towards fittings, clamps and hoses. I currently get 10 to 12psi. The kit comes with mounting bracket and a part# for the pressure safety switch that only lets the pump come on once the engine reaches 5psi of oil pressure. Cummins says in regards to volume the 3/4 gallon per minute is more than enough any more is to much for the return line system to handle.

I'd say it depends how much fuel you're actually using as to which lift pump is the right one. The nice thing about the FASS is its internally regulated, so you're gonna pump through as much fuel as you possibly can to the given pressure.

Depends on your idea of decently priced. My FASS has been great, so that is definitely one I'll reccomend. I hear the walbro kits that Glacier Diesel sell are good too, so check into those. Where are you looking to go in regards to performance? If you are looking to get into it a ways, look into an aftermarket cam and go with a mechanical lift pump like the 12v's. They last a long time, and they should provide a pretty good flow of fuel.

I would like another 60 or 80hp I don't want to lose that much in fuel mileage. I'm interested in this smarty I keep hearing about. I will have to do some more research on them. From what I'm reading on DTR posts, it sounds like the way to go. I still need to upgrade the exhaust and air filter to BHAF.
