Hot Rod VP+EZ

I know that the HOTROD VP's advance timing and add 80-100HP so I would assume this would take the place of my EZ and it would be useless. I dont know how the electronics work on the HRVP and the EZ, can they work together or are they better off left seperate.

I regards to towing I have two choices (stock HX and clutch)

A: SOVP (or HRVP), then add comp to have full adjustability

B: HRVP, no box, just 100hp sticks, be careful towing

You could run a smarty, va, or ez with the hrvp with no problem and no wire tap. Then do injectors with a clutch and turbo if you want to take the next step.

I have jammer III's but how much do you think the EZ will add on top of the HRVP, the advertised 60 hp,

200 (stock)+100(jammer III's)+ 80 (HRVP) + 60 (EZ) =440ish, probably 420 to the wheels???? just a guess, dont know if the EZ will add 60hp on top of the HRVP 80hp, just a shot in the dark.

The hrvp will add about 30-40hp on a SO truck. The ez will give you another 30-40hp, and the Jammers should give you the full 100hp. I'd guess about 350-360hp to the wheels on the stock turbo.

natlchamp2k4 ,

First and foremost decide how much HP you want and look at how you use your truck. Doing this allows you to pick the best components for your desired goals..... Doing it this way is a lot cheaper than throwing parts at your truck. There are numerous ways to achieve the desired performance goals, but some ways work better than others depending on how the truck is used and $$ spent.

I would like to put 450 to the rears, but be able to tow at about 350.

I know that will mean a clutch and a turbo.

But if I can do that safely with a SO VP then I think it will be cheaper and will give more adjustability.

How about SOVP+Drag comp+100hp inj+ Turbo(????), would that be close to what im looking for?

I like the idea of the comp because I can tow on 1x1 then turn it up as needed or wanted.

I also thinking about putting a holley blue in place of the stock LP for the pusher in order to save the VP im about to buy.

I dont tow very often but my dad would no be happy if I came home from school and I told him my truck cant pull a trailer, since thats the reason I got the truck in the first place.

With already having a SO pump, you aren't handicapped like us HO guys on the amount of fuel that you can squeeze out of the VP. I'd say that the extra HP you will get from a SO to HR wouldn't justify the extra $6-800. Drag comp, or Smarty come to mind for that kinda money. Having a HO VP limits the amount of fuel, correct me if I am wrong, but 150hp sticks seem to be the top for HO VP's, and that is wringing them dry with a box hooked up. I want a HRVP just for the use of bigger sticks eventually, and the use of a box to adjust the power for extra play. (Note HO in signature) If a SO VP could be run in my truck, I would reconsider.

A drag comp, 100hp sticks, and a turbo would probably put you over 450hp at the wheels. It is a good all-around combo.

Sounds like the Big Blue combo good for *less than 400*
Ok he made 399 Make it 150 injectors for 450 like Getblown's setup.

But bigblue was running the stock auto with a vb. The 5 speed won't have as much driveline loss. Plus he had the regular comp, not the drag.

You're right- the smaller sticks would be better for towing. I just thought 450 was optimistic with 100 sticks. Maybe 400-420.

Edit or 399 with the a/c on

I hope to get on a dyno soon, so I will let you know what my setup does. I am hoping for about 400-410hp.

Im more than likely staying with the injectors I have, and going to find a cheap used drag comp, and then a clutch then maybe some used twins.

After that then Ill upgrade the sticks

Thanks for the input guys.

I guess anything that has to do with a stock tranny or 100hps sticks and comp turns into a BigBlueBashing
