Hot Juice with Smary...Issues

Ok...here is the mix that we are working on now. 99 5 speed with Rv275 injectors and newly installed Edge Hot Juice and Smarty. Prior to the Smarty it had a Catcher Ecm..
Problem: Once the code was put in the Juice for the hot side..on level 6 the truck would get a dead pedal as you start to go thru the gears. If you were to ease up on the throttle the power comes back on. When the box is ran on 1-5 there are no issues what so ever. The fuel pressure is way above the danger zone so fuel is not an issue. We did call Bob Wagner and he told us that with the Catcher it is set on level 9 or a lot of timing and the Edge adds timing... So the next step was to order the Smarty and back the timing off to level 8 so that the Edge could do what it is suppose to do..What has to be done so that this combination will work...is ALL the timing in the ecm has to be backed off...Once the timing is backed off..the truck will run on level 6 but not as well....
Anyway...long story.....Has anyone ran into this before??????

Thanks
Rick

My guess is gonna be that it is the very first sign of a dying VP, and when you are not pusing it to the max it will still keep up, but the mechanical internals are starting to get ready for a dirt nap.

My VP occasionally dead-pedals and throws codes. When I run any of the smarty +timing maps (5, 7, 9), the dead pedal happens all the time (every 5 min on the highway vs. every 5-10 hours on the highway with the stock fuel map). My theory is that the VP timing mech. is going bad and can't handle the extreme advance, and the subsequent error it produces causes dead pedal. So I tend to agree that your VP might be less than good.

Well because some people get a lopey idle and the money might be spent better on something else. When I got mine it was a $400 difference, but it looks like its more than that now.

1. PDR port / polished/ O ring'd head
2. F1 Helix 2 cam
3. F1 Mach 4 injectors
4. Twins
5. TS Performance Nos Kit
6. SBC Dual disk Clutch
7. Girdle'd bottom end
8. 12v lift pump
9. Ladder Bars
10. 6" miter cut stacks
11. Dual Remote Amsoil filter system

That should work...

Why not toss the Juice and get him a TST? Then he can benefit from the superior Smarty timing and get the additional fuel from the PM3.
