hooking up edge comp box

So I'm hooking up an edge comp box and this has me kinda worried. I'm taping the wire to my vp44 pump and they say pull back the sleeve to tap into it. There are two wires and they are touching. I don't want this to mess with my vp44 will it? bare metal to metal. Tryed to upload an image

I'd tap the wire as the instructions state and seal up both wires separately.

What are these wires for? I was thinking about pulling off my vp44 and cutting the wire and replacing it with new and putting shrink wrap on it.

Can someone tell me what these wires are please. My father worked on my truck without me knowing and silicon both these wires together.. he thought they were ground wires. Please tell me what these 2 wires are for and can they touch each other or not?. They both are bare metal as far down as I can see. Should I not hook up my edge comp to it?

Ok so I turned the key and my check engine light poped up and codes p1693 and p0237. Never had these codes before. So I'm guessing it is caused by these 2 wires touching each other?. My edge comp box wasn't really hooked up when I turned the key. The map sense and data link was hooked up but the box was not hooked up or even had juice to it. So I unplugged the map sensor and data link. And tryed to delete the code but it popped right back.

There is two wires, but by the picture I cant tell if one is complete cut? They are separate and I hope you did not short out the pump by putting power to it!!

So what now? Is my pump shot?. There are 4 wires all together. 2 in one sleve and 2 in the other where you tap into for the edge box. Those two wires my father put together.. I didn't start the truck I just turned the key to see and the check engine light came on and a code. What do I do now! I'm so worried
