please pardon my lack of knowledge, but what does an induction hood do, other than for looks?

Take for instance the fiberglass hood. You notice how the holes are in the front of the hood? Its to force the air into either the air box or just into the engine bay area. In return it keeps temps cooler and sometimes adds a small small amount of power. Now for the steel hod. From what I heard is that the air hits the windsheild and flow down into the hole on the back side there. Which does the same thing like cooler temps and such. Someone else might be able to explain it better.
DF5152,
Get the fiberglass one cause everybody seems to have the steel cowlhood. Be a REBEL and get the fiberglass. :P

Don't expect the fiberglass one to fit factory. The steel will be a much closer match but both will still require lots of fitting. Make sure if you can that the glass one is gelcoated as well you don't want to see the glass coming through it later on.

2 of my buddies put fiberglass hoods on their vehicles (1 mustang, 1 F-150). The F-150 had no trouble fitting. The Mustang did. Both were in wrecks though. That's why they got it.
