Honest Opinion - DDP 2's or 3's?

With my setup, can I run either?

Which should I run for the best overall power band without a GSK or Whistle?

I saw some 3's for sale in the classifieds. but Ross thinks I'd be happy with the 2's (and I'm leaning towards his response, but the 3's are a good price)

from what i understand on the 12v's the 3's are a pretty darn big injector. as a matter of fact i thought the bigbaddodge and maddog both ran the DDP 4's in their trucks which were both very high HP trucks.

i think if you wanna keep a stock or somewhat small turbo, the 2's are plenty

the 2's would be good enough for all around, if you can support them get what ever you want depends what you want to do with the truck the 3's will be warm towing on a single.

Maybe I'm ignorant, but couldn't you just pull back the plate or tighten up the AFC with the bigger sticks to make them livable?

With a 215 pump you have lots of power just waiting for you to ease that plate forward!

Would the 3's flow too much fuel for my turbo?

$475 isn't a bad price for 3's with 10,000 miles on 'em

the plate and injectors add heat differently. at idle your plate does nothing but your injectors are working. say if you had a bigger turbo the plate full forward will do nothing to spool the turbo going down the road, you'll have to go full throttle to get the heat to spool by that time your egts are way to hot for the turbo to cool. with the injectors you already have some heat to spool and a little of the go pedel your spooling as your adding fuel with the plate and the egts are better managed. IDK thats my understanding.

With the plate forward, you're adding duration of the injection event. The longer the duration, the more unused heat (EGT's), no? So with bigger injectors, and the plate pulled back, you'd have a shorter injection event, but more fuel, so it would be cleaner and cooler, no? Am I way off base here?

Go with the 3's

if u need less power, then you can simply play with the fuel plate and such. I have a feelin ur truck wont stay with a stock whistler for long anyways..

Far as i know even the 4's have their limits, some people run them on mid 400 horse trucks and they work well, why not consider teh 4's?

Just get the 3's and pull your plate back. If you ever get a bigger turbo and want more fuel you can just slide the plate forwards and bingo your good.

With the set up in my sig my plate is only set between stock and all the way cut back. If I ever need more I got it.

One interesting thing....if you have big injectors or in my case DV's, the fueling profile of your plate is much more apperent. That is to say a that a little forwards or backwards movement of the gov arm as it follows the plate makes a bigger differance in amount of fuel. It is also makes your starweel/afc a little more touchy to set up.
