Holset HX52 and HTT Pro 52 Opinions?

I didn't say not to try it,I said be careful with it as they do not have very strong mainshafts and are known for snapping them. They have ours on the Volvo Motors gated at 40psi and with your motor I would not go much more than that.To gate it at 50 and have a chance of over run which could push pressure higher is just playing with breakage possibilities, both charger related and headgasket related......Andy

Hey Dustin,
My $0.02 is you'd be better off selling those 52s and put that money towards your twins or a more stout single. The HX52 is an average turbo at best in the application they were designed for. I think you'd be pushing it past its limits and the carnage will be more expensive than going with a more reliable charger setup.

Hammer I appriciate the information, cause I havent seen one in it's natural state. So knowing that information does help with the decision. I also think brian has a point. I have a buddy of mine who wants to use them as twins on his big block. I might have to sell them to him and save up for my HX35/HT3B setup. Maybe I'll get a HX40 in the mean time just to toy with until I can have twins. Either way the car is beggin for the budget since race season is right around the corner...

Heck now your talking two Hx52's with a big inch gasser that would be the *****!!Imho don't even bother with the hx40 it's a laggy puppy I had one once upon a time and could not wait to get that sucker off! Sell the turbo's and save a bit for a good s300 variant of you choice. I was told this many times but never listened don't make the same mistake and waste your time like me there are better things to do than work hard only to be disapointed.....

i would just start the twins. i had a sps62 and a sp66 wich are boths300 style turbos. and my 35/3b setup is hands down the best setup yet. there are better twin setups out there but for a stock turbo and one from a junkyard they are sweet. with my single turbos i was hitting like 1600 degrees. with the twins i only see about 1250 degrees. and driving around before i would turn my edge off so it didnt blow smoke all the time. with the twins i can leave the edge on kill, mash it from a light and leave only a small puff of smoke. i know i babbled on but im saying just do the twins it will be the best mod to your truck yet. it was mine

i don't know what it would do on your truck, but i do know what it will do on a volvo tractor. on my '03 max boost was 30 psi, with a lot of lag. on the '06, 40 psi, little less lag. they both have the 12 liter 465hp volvo comon rail.
