Holley Blue Transfer Pumps

Holley Blue Transfer Pumps
For those of you all running one of these pumps, how long have you gone before it "died".And what happened when it gave up, did it just die overnight or did it slowly loose pressure on you,or did the solenoid quit? Appreciate the info..thanks

I've been running one for over 25K and it hasn't died yet. The pressure did begin to drop one time. I pulled the pump off and reomved the bottom cover to find some small pieces of debris. I cleaned everything and put it back together with a new gasket and haven't had a problem yet. The Holley Blues do seem to have their limitations as well. Based on experiments with my truck the seem to reach their limits at just over 500 Rwhp.

I had a Holley Blue on my 01 for over 50K miles...no problem.
I have one on my 04 Ram now with over 10K.
However, I know of folks that have defective ones from new and others that have had pumps fail in a few thousand miles.
On the 01 I had DD3's TST comp stacked with an EZ, B1 etc etc.
I have an old EZ stacked with a VA now.
Fuel pressures are great.
I also tried other pumps...Carters, Aeromotive, and a few others...all of which failed. One in particular failed with less then 300 miles and it was a PE. Replaced it and failed again.
Holley Blacks do not like me...EVERYONE of them failed.
I hate to say it but it can be a crap shoot.

Why do you think your Dodge has all that room under the back jump seat?
I just replaced the stock LP for the 2nd time in 155K miles. The first one went 130K miles, the second 20K miles. I'd say stick with the stock pump on an "01".

I don't know what sort of quality control Holley uses, but it must be slack. I know folks swear by the reds and blues and have had no trouble whatsoever with them (John_P and Banshee), but I had two red pumps let go in 6 weeks. Both times I was on the road, noticed fp drop to zero instantaneously. Getting towed twice is not fun. So, I traded for an 03.
Some are good, some are bad. Its a crap shoot.

Crap shoot? I don't think so. How many people had a bad blue pump in the truck that used a fuel filter before the pump.
I guess if you not savvy about roaside repairs you stuck towing your truck. I think it is correct that some dirt gets into the pump and causes it to go to zero pressure.
I'm using a Holly Blue that replaced the lift pump. After 10K miles, no problems.
For me, if the pump's motor is spinning, i can fix it on the roadside.... Much better than the stock pump which can't be repaired.
My 2 cents

Can the Holley blue be used in the stock location? If so what does it take to install? Any different fittings etc.?
I have my second lp dieing now, and not sure whether to go blue or pick up another from Cummins.

I wouldn't worry about getting it into the stock location too much. I put mine on the frame rail near the fuel tank. The output of the Holley pump goes directly into the fuel filter.
So far I get 15PSI cruising, 15PSI idle, and 14PSI WOT. I do notice if i'm working my truck hard (pulling a horse trailer up hills) that after a while the fuel pressure rises to 17PSI. I never seen that performance on a stock lift pump.
