Thats the setup I use. It's towed another truck and a boat from NC to MO and back at over 500HP. The Holley blue pumps are definetley under estimated.

just do your self a favor before installing take off the bottom of pump and remove the brass colored screen and strech the internal spring about 1/2 inch and install a cheap $2.50 filter before the inlet of Holley......mines at bounces between 21-23 psi @ idle and 13-18 psi WFO

I have a Question about the holley pumps. I have a 01 and read that some of you have hard wired it to the factory plug...can someone give me some help on how I can wire this up that way. I'm putting in the holley blue.

Also has anyone had the problem of the lift pump dieing after a while of driving sitting at idle I have no problem with the stock but driving I get about 55 and instead of 10 to 8 psi it drops to about 1 or 2. Anyone know what could be causing this?

I used the vulcan kit to hook my holley blue to the factory fuel pump wiring, pulled out the screen (its a flame arrestor for gasoline) and with a stretched spring i get 17psi at idle and 12-13 at WOT pushing some serious power. I think removing the flame arrestor screen increases the longevity of the pump since diesel is a little thick to push through it in cold weather...

Exactly my point. The Holley is more money and doesn't hold up as well. I'm sold on the Walbro's

Yeah, I've never tried a Holley on a diesel yet but they were junk on my gasoline powered and methonal powered racecars. I never could get one to live. I usually ended up with a Walbro, Aeromotive or even a Mallory.

With all due respect, your Chevy is not running diesel fuel, is it?

Diesel has a reputation for killing otherwise reliable pumps.

Holleys have not proven to last in the long haul on these trucks, whether blue, black, or red.

Don't you need a regulator as well with a walbro ? I suppose if my holley blue takes a crap i'll make the switch but until then it seems pretty solid.

Holley...

I ran a Holley Blue for a couple of years. I didn't know about removing the screen. What killed mine was a fuel line leak that sprayed fuel on the Holley's external motor. The resulting film of fuel oil attracted dust. I took the motor apart, looking for a short or worn brushes... they were, but the problem was the commutator's copper brush contacts were worn away to nothing by brush spring pressure & dirt.
I replaced it with a frame mounted, sealed motor Airtech ( $180 ) & use the original Carter ( mounted on frame near tank ) to push. My 0-15 psi f.p. gauge is pegged at 16 psi all the time.

Im running a Holley Blue pre-factory LP and it idles around 24-25psi and never drops below 14 WOT. I will add that if you decide to be stupid and run the tank dry (don't ask) it WILL burn up the Holley and cause the motor to chug, and you'll need to replace the Holley. Other than that I've have NO PROBLEMS from the 2nd pump. Just my 2 cents. Vern

Try the Aeromotive AE11203. Rock solid at 16 psi and has lasted 80K so far. It originally started on the veggie side, but switched to a FASS veggie HPHF pump and then relocated the Aeromotive for the diesel side. It won't pull down to below 10psi at WOT. I have been very happy with it and it's durability.

The Walbro is the 392. $110.
Get the 400-939 install kit for about $10 there, too.

I found the Swagelok B-8CPA2-3 adjustable bypass poppet valve at $38 is all you should need to run a return line back into your OEM return line or fuel tank.

The Fleetguard FF5079 is about $13 and should be used pre-pump.

You can also see the fuel tank return fitting if you want to go that route. That's a total of $168 for a complete setup. Add about $40 for fuel line and fittings and you're out the door for around $200.

Here are the links:

Great deal on 25' Hysunite (Goodyear) fuel line http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Just my 2 cents....
