Holley Blue Pump Versus Other Lift Pumps

Does anyone have experience with the Holley Blue FP being used as a lift pump. Right now I have the B&D lift pump kit but I'm not very confident in the carter pump that comes with the kit. It looks like the Holley blue would be a pretty simple swap and I have seen alot of articles on high HP rigs running them.

I've used the red pump on a 509ci in a boat w/zero problems. Found a new blue for $75 on ebay and went ahead and bought it, just need to install. With the recommended psi for the IP being around 13psi, and the blue rated @ 14psi and tons of other folks are running the same setup, this is the route I'm taking....at least for now. Tired of swapping out the Crappy Carter....can I have my money back.

After having Holley issues with a Mustang I decided to go with the Walbro. So far it's been great. Rock steady fuel pressure and you cannot hear it run.

I run the Holley. I have 200 invested in the Holley and Vulcan Big Line kit. So far am very pleased, both with the cost and performance.

Look under 3rd gen in the classifieds, 2 Fass 150 pumps, $150 each.

Do the FASS pumps require an external pressure regulator?

I've been running the Holley Black for over 50,000 miles now with no problems. I went with the black version because it was rated for methanol and I figured the biodiesel wouldn't degrade the Black pump's rubber. If I did it again, I would have done the big line kit at the same time. The pressure fluctuates between 12 and 10 psi. I wired it directly to the stock lift pump wiring.

I've had a holley blue in line with the intank LP for about a year and a half above 500HP. I have the stock fuel system with a holley blue. It will help the other LP live longer b/c it takes ALOT of strain off of it. Mine is set at 20PSI at idle and no less than 12 at WOT. The FASS, Airdog and others are great but I can put in 5 or 6 holley pumps for the price of one of those systems.

My is truck is running off of just a single Holley Blue. I am at 10-12psi. I also have it wired to the stock wiring harness.

If you stretch the spring or get a stiffer one it will run up around 20PSI where it should.

Thanks for all of the input, it sounds like a pretty good route to take over the 5 to 600 dollars for the other ones.

I have been running the ProComp Black off E-bay for a few months now and Have 14psi at idle and 11psi at WOT like I used to have with a brand new Carter pump. Best thing is, this pump is only $50. I am going to experiment with stiffer springs or a washer to pre-load the current spring to see if I can get pressures up a few psi, but I am very happy with it as is and at 1/2 the price of a Holley, I can afford to carry a spare if it ever goes south..

I never had good luck with my blue pumps, I went through 5 of them and the first one cost me a injection pump. I tried running them in different locations to get them to last but none would stay going for me. I sold the last one I had to a friend and he ran that as a helper pump with the stock one and he has not had any problems in the 1 1/2 he has had it. So I don't know if I just had a bad batch of pumps or what but holley would not warrenty that 3rd or 4th one that I had. They told me its not ment for diesel so I switched to a fass pump.
