Mine is mounted on the frame and it wired into a relay. The switch wire goes into the cab into the fuse box. I found a key on source. So once the key turns on the pump is turned on also.

do you have it mounted on the inside or outside of the frame? and does the relay come with the pump or is that something extra you have to buy? sorry for all the questions

Inside of frame and wired into the ignition switch. Also I removed the brass fine mesh screen inside the pump right after the inlet port and used a Cuno rotate to clean 3/8" NPT strainer on the suction side. Check out photo gallery for pictures of said install.

Mine is mounted on the outside of the frame. The relay does not come with the pump. Although I did have a extra relay laying around the garage from some foglights. I had to change the fuse size to a 15amp fuse I think, per instructions. The instructions also suggest a relay.

I'm glad you guys had good luck with your pumps, I went through 5 in 3 months and it took out my new injection pump because they failed so often. But some never have a problem, I must be unlucky .

I just pulled the relay signal from the lift pump wire and got 12V from the battery.

I guess I'm living on the edge since mine is wired directly from the orig. LP harness...no relay. Been like that for about a year now. Oh yeah, mines mounted on the frame also. I used the Vulcan relocation kit.

I put mine on the inside of the frame rail right before the crossmember. I also have mine wired directly to the stock wires using the wiring that came with the Vulcan big line kit. I have had no problems in the 2 weeks since putting it on,but I must admit I am a little nervous since some guys have had problems. Keepin my fingers crossed.I guess I am not totally sure why they say not to wire it the way I have mine?

I think the pump pulls a little more amperage than the stocker. Using the relay is probably the wise thing to do, but I have read about several others wiring this particular pump directly to the stock harness with no problems. That's why I did it, and it's worked fine for me.

Mine's mounted on the frame by the transfer case and I've got a 30 amp relay triggered off of the stock lift pump harness supplying power to it.

On the frame near the t-case. Relayed off the battery using the stock LP wiring as a trigger. Stock pump upgraded to a Delphi and is still in place being fed by the Holly, hence why the Holly is relayed.

You guys are doing a lot of extra wiring. Cummins runs a relay just for the lift pump. If you are tapping into the existing lift pump power wires for relay power, you are running through TWO relays.
The other issue is the lift pump power is pulse width modulated. Cummins has issues with too much fuel pressure to the VP44 at start up. They use a PWM signal to back off fuel pressure from the lift pump during cranking. Too much fuel pressure can cause the vane pump inside the VP44 to not function properly during cranking, causing excessive cranking conditions.
By running your own power circuit, you are bypassing the PWM signal.

I'm still running my stock pump and don't want to run BOTH off of the stock wiring.

With both pumps I'm pushin 29psi at idle and 14psi at WOT, so far it still starts ok.
