Does the HO engine get the same hp gains as a SO with a juice with attitude on an '01 HO? Just wondering because the edge guys say they give the same gains but I have heard otherwise from others...

More with an SO engine. HO engine gains more HP going with larger injectors than SO does, so there are tradeoffs. HO will still get the advertised 120HP, SO will get nearly 130HP

 

The claimed hp increase of 120 is with an SO engine. The HOs will typically only gain 85-90hp from a fueling module like this.

Given othewise identical mods with larger injectors and a fueling box set on kill, an HO truck will generally make LESS power mod for mod.

The HOs *do* make more power with just injector because the factory fueling is more aggressive. It's like having a fueling box on "1" all the time. It makes more power compared to an unmodded truck, but you're already at level one, not zero, so total HP potential will be less.

The same combo that makes 500hp in a SO truck will typically be 480ish in an HO. Then again, it might be 480ish in another SO as well, given that it's well known that these trucks can vary a good bit from one to another in power production given identical mods.
