I was wondering what you guys thought if engine oil temp could possibly help tell when the pistons/bearings start giving out?

You guys are talking about timing boxes. Is the superchips 3705 adjust timing and does it does it affect your egts/timing in a bad way like the edge and other boxes.

I believe the SC is fuel only, and you need gauges to know what it is doing to your truck. But the SC shouldn't cause EGT issues, unless there is somethig else.

thank god for my smarty and TST with minimal timing advances at WOT and full boost. i tried a full speed blast with both set on #9 the other day and i rounded my pyro past 1600 and held it there for a good 6-7 seconds. no adverse affects on the truck...and long ago when i ran the comp box, 100sticks, and hx35, i went past 1600 many times and my pistons still look brand new when i pulled the head for the head gasket.

yeah same here! call me stupid, one of our truck has no extra gauges (no pyro, no boost)
we have a 215 pump on there with a plate, and 4kGSK, 435's injectors and a HTB2 64, we never towm use it to drive to school and every now and then reace people on the street,

head gasket blew, took off the head, changed the HG and the pistons looked like new.

they say: why put in a gauge, you wont let off the go pedal before the 1/4 miole anyway? ... it peggs anyway! lol

I've hit 1800 several times! (not recommended!) But I ain't hurt nothin yet! I'm gettin a HTB2 "Killer", hopefully, so those days are over!

mods in sig, and usually back out at 1450 degrees.. when it hits this temp though is usually at around 90mph so its time to let off the go pedal anyway.

most spirited driving it doesnt go above 1200.
