Members with automatics should be careful when getting turbo recommendations from those with stick shifts!
With big fuel...it's a whole different scenario trying to get drivability (control smoke and spoolup) with an auto....and many with one type tranny have never even driven the other! Auto's with 14 cm turbine housings are very laggy ....as a rule. More fuel can make the problem worse!
Driving a 5 speed for 3 days was a real eye opener for me. Much easier to control smoke and a laggy turbo by winding out the gears a bit! A completely different truck, IMO!
