I should have about $18 in my down pipe so it's not as big of a deal as I thought it was gonna be, just took a little work to find a 4" pipe supplier.

You might be unhappy band clamping the down pipe. I tried that once and could never get it to stay on when I drove over a big enough bump.

Well I got her on today.
The 45* for the down pipe doesn't work with a 4" exhaust. I have an HX40 down pipe on the way that I will use but for now it's flexed piped.
Didn't get much drive time but my quick 8 mile drive was an eye opener. On level 2 on the Drag Comp I could hit an easy 40lbs of boost under moderate exceleration. This sucker sings too, sounds like it's coming through the glovebox. Spool up is as well or better than my stock 35/12.
I'll let ya know more as I get some seat time tomorrow and get it broke in.
Here are a few more pics for those that asked.

Exhausting this turbo is a piece of cake on the second gen trucks compared to the third gen trucks. Helped a friend mount a HTB2 on his '04 today. It took all day to get the job done. The new waste gated version does fit the 3rd gen trucks where it wouldn't before.
A 45* elbow will work with a little tweaking. You have to be creative. The angle needed is actually more like 50* to hook to a standard 4" exhaust system. As I posted before, an entire down pipe can be constructed using a 45* elbow on the top and a 60* in the bottom, with some creative tweaking. It's alot chaeper than purchasing and modifying a HX40 down pipe.

I'm telling ya, me and my 45* and my 3lb sledge went around for about 2 hours and there was no way that the 45* could be made to clear my firewall. And still work on the 4" down pipe. It's got me mad enough now to where I'm gonna buy the 40 pipe weld on the flange and be done with it.
I like the turbo though, the exhaust isn't gonna spoil that.

The more I run this turbo, the more impressed I am. Went to the Edge sponsored drags tonight. EGTs never got above 1450* with the outside temps at 100*. My PDR HX40 could never do that - EGTs would be through the roof halfway down the track. This will be a great towing turbo.
Truck is an ETH with DD3s, a drag Comp and 50 hp shot of propane.

Got mine out today and put it through it's paces.
First responce is Wow!
Was rockin around with the Drag Comp up on 4x5 and the turbo would hit 40lbs of boost as quick as I could tap the go pedal. EGT's are down a good 200* and the truck is a Freekin rocket now. On one good run on 4x5 I managed to glance over at the boost gauge (after pulling my head up out of the head rest) and she was settling in on 50lbs.
This thing is loud too, very sweet sounding little fan.
EGT's never did make it over 1200* all day.
I'd say HTT did their homework on this one.
Can't wait to get to Scheid's and see what kind of #'s it thows down. Or see how it does on the Pullin track tonight.

what sized bully dogs there darrel and yours doesnt look like a WG version???
Lucky son of a gun, those pictures look like a grenaded D80 Power-Lok, hard to find those but pretty tuff LSD to grenade what were you doing? how is it holding up now.
Did you build it out of a D70HD or was it an old factory unit?
Nice Truck
Im toying with the idea of this turbo match to a Edge comp and mach 2.5's or 3's, for towing i realize i will be pushing the limits of the system to cool itself but with a little throttle control it should be possible.
Is your head Oringed or Studded? Are you worried about popping the HG? Ive heard to keep her below 45lbs? are your concerned at all?

The truck ran out great the first hook, but I turned it down since I overpowered the track and came back with a taller gear. On the next hook I snuffed the turbo (crowd loved it) they pulled me back the line for my retry and the launch was great but I hit a bit of a snag at about the 180' mark. Ended up exploding the spider gears in the Dana 80 along with taking out the clutch packs. Good news was that the truck would have been out the door, and was building a nice 45lbs of boost and climbing. The truck is now up on jackstands in the barn but I should have it running and on the road tomorrow.
The charger did great on the track though, just gotta get other things worked out now. The truck kind of suprised me on the first hook, had a lot more power than I expected.
The 80 was a factory unit, and they are 150hp nozzels.

I know this is asking alot but will someone running this turbo if you have a way see how muck backpressure its making at whatever your max boost is . I just put an adapter in place of pyro probe in my manifold and run it to my boost gauge. I am trying to see if it is as efficent as a B1. My B1-2 at 50 psi boost makes 62 psi of back pressure.

That is the first time I've ever seen anyone post that about a B-1.....it's good, My Twins are 1 to 1 till 75 so that single is still doing good.

50psi and 62psi drive pressure??? Forgive my ignorance, but that doesn't sound to good. Drive pressure it just as likely to blow a head gasket as boost pressure isn't it? I was a little concerned about the drive pressure of my DZ given that I run a somewhat restrictive turbo-mounted exhaust brake. Up to 35psi drive pressure was somewhat less than boost. Then at 35psi it was 1 to 1. At 41psi max boost on 5x5, drive pressure was 45. I believe that I can live with that.

So how are the barking characteristics of this turbo? Does it bark easily or not so easily?
I have talked to High Tech and some of their variations sound promising. All of the turbos I have run on this truck have barked real bad. I need a new one and am leaning towards a B1 with a dual volute wastegate just for its stall characteristics (or lack there of). Good?...Bad?...Not any more or less than others? Any info is appreciated.

Mine barked once on the first trip I took when I came over a hill testing it out and there was a undercover cop on the other side that was when the wastgate was set at the factory 38psi when I put my needle valve wastgate controller on the turbo would spool so fast on 5x5 that it would bark evrey time I pushed in the clutch to shift this was at 48psi
