High Fuel Pressure

Just finished installing my highflow -6an fuel lines from the tank forward, including a Carter stock Cummins lift pump in the pusher position to feed the stock lift pump. Everything went together great, and she started right up and runs fine, but now pushes 25psi of fuel pressure. have heard of people having trouble with hard starting, which I have yet to experience, but was looking for some input as to whether this could damage the Vp44? Drove it and at WOT had 18psi, idle 25psi, and cruise 22psi. Just wondering if anyone out there could give me any insight concerning this situation. Is it trouble for the VP? Also, I am running the stock return lines. Should I find a way to turn the old feed lines into returns for the extra diameter? Any input appreciated. Thanks-

25 is OK. I wouldn't run it there for any length of time. That's considered the max.

If your worried about it, put in a regulator just prior to the filter. Also what year truck? Fill in your sig, so we know what ya got. Just click on the usercp button at top of page.

Carter also has another pump (4601 I think) - looks very much like the original pump that puts out 7psi. I am using it for a total pressure of 22+ at idle. No hard start issues and I have read no vp44 issues.

Well, I took out the other stock lift pump from the pusher position and am just running the stock one with the new -6 lines. System still gave a big improvement, got 15psi @ idle, never drops below 12psi @WOT with just the VanAaken. So not in a huge hurry to get another pusher in there until the Comp arrives. Have 130,000mi on the VP44, so trying to do everything in my power to keep it alive for another year. Gonna skip the regulator idea, since regulators that will adjust into the range we need (12-18psi) are nonexistent, and if I found one, they were about double the price of the carter pump- so not the best option for me. Think I will look into the 4601 Carter (maybe 4600- 7psi, 100gph). Some say you can get this pump at Napa or Autozone, but the "pro's" at Autozone can't do anything for ya if it's not in the computer listed under a specific make/ model... Haven't been to Napa yet to ask about that (still got a bad taste in my mouth from dropping $370 on tie rods, etc. there... ). Any other ideas? I live near Indianapolis, which has about any major supplier you could name, so let me have it. Thanks-
