Help pick new injectors

I took my 100 hp jammers and want to put a better quality injector in my truck. I have decided to got with DDP or F1. Which would be the better choice out of those two?

Josh

You might as well have asked which oil is better......my opinion would be the F1's...that's what I'll be buyin'...

I've ONLY bought F1's, however I've heard good things about the DDP's. If it were ME, I'd keep sticking with what's been good to me over the years, but it's really a toss-up from what I've heard.

Guys I think Josh asked the wrong question. He knows both are good injectors, as I've told him that. I think he needs help with the size. He is going to keep his stock turbo for now. I told him either mach 4's or DDP 150's. That way he can just keep his comp box turned down for towing and those injectors will grow with him when he gets a bigger turbo.

Even without a box, Mach 4s are a lot of fuel for an HX35/12 IMHO.

User HOHN reports that he is able to tow a small load with them. I dont think 0791Challenger tows more than a couple of 4-wheelers.

My Dad has towed even not-so-small loads with them (~yard of gravel in the bed).

No problems with temps.

It's not the fuel, it's the turbo that limits you. If your stock charger will support 350hp with reasonable EGT, then the injector size matters little or not at all if it's reasonably efficient.

So long as you only use about 350hp worth of power, you can tow with M6s and a stock charger. Just know your limits.

With a blocked wg, I can get 38psi from the stock 35/12. (just M4s and smarty).

So you ARE overfueled for sure, but just don't floor the loud pedal-- it's that simple.

You know, I have a guitar preamplifier that's capable of so much signal gain that it can turn the sound into mush. The owner's manual says simply "don't turn it all the way up, you won't need to."

So I offer to you the same advice. At least with the F1 series injector, I'm of the mind that you can run almost any injector you want, if you are willing to acknowledge the limits of what you have and stay within them.

I would NOT recommend hooking on to a huge 5er in thin air and towing uphill with a stock charger and M4s. But if you drove as if you had less power than you do, and drove up that hill in 4th gear at 35mph (6-speed), I think you'd be perfectly fine.

Conventional wisdom says that as a turbo gets bigger, you want a bigger injector to help "light it". I think this is somewhat backwards. With a bigger injector that can rapidly dump in the fuel, spoolup becomes even more important than ever before. If you have a laggier turbo, you need to delay the fueling until you have some boost built.

For now, I can run Smarty pretty aggressive with the M4s and stock turbo. But when I go to a larger turbo, I'm going to have to dial back the fueling to compensate.

Once you are making some smoke, you are lighting the turbo as fast as it can be lit. In this case, you need less fuel on the pedal and more on the MAP/computer.

M4s ARE a lot of fuel for a stock turbo. But they are perfectly manageable as a daily driver, and start reliably at -24°F. Also, the stock charger is easier on your oil because the faster spoolup means less smoke and less soot in your oil.

If you want a PERFECTLY safe way to run the M4s and a stock turbo, just block the WG and never exceed 30psi (assuming no leaks or anything).

OK, now that we've heard from Hohn... Msquare should be piping up about the DDP. These threads are starting to become predictable.

What's the point in installing 150 stixs and not being able to use them. Get ahold of Jetpilot talk to him about it.

Yeah, let's see if we can get like 30 stickies on the front page so that you have to go to the second page just to see new posts

Or we could just keep typing and keep answering questions.

You KNOW how much I hate to type those long winded posts.

There Both Great sticks,
As far as temp.... I can tow heavy without a box and my 6's?
An injector will not make much additional HP without a box. Theres just not enough fuel coming from the pump to increase the heat!

Well I guess I will have to buy a new turbo then too.
