Help me spend my last $700.00
After the 1st I am going to have $700.00 to spend on my truck.
"This is the last of the money for this truck! " You can see in my
signature the mods I already have. Keep in mind the reason I bought
this truck was to tow our camping Travel Trailer ( 6500# ).Below are
my two choices.
#1 F1 1.6 injectors 85hp - Rv275 injectors = 45-50 net hp gain
Pros: easier on the VP44
cons: possible EGT issues / can't be turned off when towing
#2 TST PM3 with remote = 90-100hp on an HO egine I've heard
Pros: Can be turned down or off when towing / More overall hp
Cons: Possible problems with the Vp44 dieing
What would you do ?

RV275 injectors you have now are pretty good at towing, but Mach 1.6's are better, especially for EGT's, have more power, and same or slightly better mileage. If you recently installed them(RV275's), and have low miles on them, there are other options to consider also.
I would seriously consider either a MAD ECM, or the new Smarty(adjustable) when it comes out. It is a fantastic low/mid range power upgrade, without tapping pump wire, and should be safe to use with stock turbo-wastegate disabled. Or a comp or TST pm3 and take the plunge, but will have to turn it way down when towing.
The VanAaken that you have now is a great towing box, especially with the Mach1.6's. Hope this helps to give you more options to consider. Maybe you'll have to raise your limit by a $1000-$2000 bucks, and get em all.

I'd go with the Smarty from what I've read about it.

I wish I knew a year ago what I know now. I hate doing things twice
and wasting money If I go with the Mach 1.6 injectors
I lose the $300.00 I spent on the RV275's. If I go with the Smarty
I lose the $400.00 I spent on the Van Aaken. The funny thing is
I bought this truck to pull our camper and thought with the stock power
I wouldn't need to do anything to the truck. Then I found this site and
my bank account has never been the same It's true that
the power is addictive. Everytime I add power, I want more soon thereafter. Oh well I least it's fun if not inexpensive

I'ld 2nd the turbo idea , you've got the 4" exhaust finish it , the turbos a chock point for heat and HPs , and don't forget the clutch , you might be starting to excede what it can handle. opps thats more than $700.

I would go with the 1.6's for sure. I like the smooth power they make vs. a box, specially when towing. And I have no egt problems with my injectors that are slightly larger than the 1.6's when towing. Ahh, I've told you all that stuff before, Get the injectors!

The 1.6s are rated at 90hp, but a very knowledge guy told me on the HO they will add about 100hp. The 1.6s made a big difference in the overall power of my truck, but no where near the difference the mad ecm made. I tried them both ways. I installed the mad ecm first, then the injectors. I put back the stock ecm and sent the mad back to be reflashed to the mild version. I now have the mild version on and I rarely turn on the TST unless some PSD or Duramax figures he got more power than a 2nd gen. Dodge. I let my friend who has a stock 2001 PSD drive my truck. He was convinced that because he had a "V8" he had more power than me. I turned on the TST to level 6. He only had to drive it 100 ft. to feel the difference in power. He did get it into 5th and 60 mph and that was enough. He is quite unhappy with his PSD now. He wants me to "soup up" his truck, but I told him I don't know how to work on PSDs. I took one look at the engine and I'll never work on that thing.
Getting back to the subject. If I had $700 to spend, I would get the Smarty (assuming I already had gauges.) The 1.6s would be my 2nd choice.
