Help me diaognose problem, comp box related
OK here's the deal, I have had an Edge comp box with the pump wire pierced for about 3 years now, I have run it on 2x2 for the whole time and am happy with what it has done for me, the other day I was messing around with it on my test streach of highway, on 5x5 I can make some serious smoke so I know the truck is getting the extra fuel but I was only able to hit 82mph where as on 2x2 I can hit 86 on that same test, also on 5x5 it seams to be doggy, kinda like I added a few thousand extra pounds of weight.
I cna hit 38psi of boost on both settings but on 5x5 it takes longer to get there, I have my wastegate set at 38 psi.
A while back while still under warrenty I sent the box into Edge and they replaced it but the problem is still the same.
Cheers, Kevin

Kevin,
After the two test runs what is your EGT guage telling you? If on 5x5 it is lower than on 2x2 it simply is not getting the fuel. Now why it's not getting the fuel is a different matter. Does the truck stumble as you go from a dead stop or does it falter on the big end. Or does the power come on smoothly, but there just doesn't seem to be that much of it? Have you checked to see if any codes have been thrown? The only other thing I can think of is the power is not getting to the ground in 5x5. It could be that the transmission is slipping so badly it just doesn't have the ability to transfer all that torque to the ground. I'm sure one of these other guys will chime in and give you the skinny. Scott

EGT's top out the same..........1275* Preturbo, I know its getting the fuel cuz it smokes alot more, it just acts doggy and the top speed proves it. Truck doesnt stumbel at all. No codes displayed at all. Clutch aint slipping at all, ita a Southbenc con ofe, I know what clutch slipping feels like from when I toasted my OEM unit. Truck has a 6 speed and during this test I only made it to 5th gear.

I would also say the turbo.
I feel it with mine too, but granted I'm pushing alot more fuel. I need a new turbo to get the power out of it on the top end, this hx35 just doesnt cut it on the top end.
Couple of other things:
1. check your wire on the injector pump and make sure it is connected well, mine has disconnected itself before (scotch lock)
2. when I dynoed (without the wire tapped), I found I made more power on 3x3 than 3x5 because I was pushing too much fuel for low RPM (read 'low boost'). I wanted to try 3x1 to see what would happen but never did.
3. How does your fuel pressure look?

My fuel psi goes no lower than 12.5 at WOT so I know that isnt an issue
I too thought of the pump wire so I sodered it solid and taped it up good. I am sure I got the right wire but what if I didnt, I think the instros said the closest one to the motor, what the heck is the other wire?
I am at 5000 ft elevation
Cheers, Kevin
