help with lag

can anyone help lsit some things that could cause lag...im running 270ish hp worth of fueling mods and this thing isnt lighting until 2200or later. its no good to drive under 60mph because it has no power.

im thinking there has to be damage to the turbine or something.

here is one other tidbit, the metal exhaust gasket i got from the dealer didnt have the divider in it, it was just a single oval opening for both exhaust ports...could there be a conflict with pules between the front cylinders and the rear cylinders thats causing the exhaust to not wanna spool this thing? its almost undrivable...its not fun unless you wanna fly from 60-110 and you cant do that on any highways

This turbo is not working for you is it? A stock turbo lights at what... 1500? If your waiting till 2200, I agree that's not acceptable considering your fueling. Your going to have to re-work that turbo, run a smaller exhaust housing to create some backpressure, what size exhaust is on these 14 or 16cm?

My crazy 2 bits from left field is to try to force air from the fender through the inlet hole towards your intake. Pop the hood and cram a peice of cardboard in the fender well right past the hole and go for a spin. If it works for you like it did for me, then take the cardboard out and weld in a dam. Don't ask which ghetto method I used to make a dam Ram air for the ram

I have a pic but would recommend welding something in there. No I'm not still using cardboard, maybe one or two steps up form there

phatboy...what do you mean...you think that my AFE is not getting enough air to supply the turbo until it really starts sucking (ie:2200rpms)

My AFE filter sometimes looks dirty...would a dirty/clogged HUGE cone filter like that still create enouhg of a problem to slow the spool down that much?

im totally lost. id rather have that little crappy banks modified HX35 on the truck cuz at least it did something in the rpms most people drive in...

Cleaning the filter and ram air mod both are worth a shot imo. I played with cowl induction too, but the ram air made the biggest improvement in spool up for me. As far as spooling at a lower rpm, this made more of a difference than the smarty, but I haven't removed the dam for a direct comparison.

how much difference? i need to make up about 600-800rpm of lag.

JR keeps saying it has to be my truck, but i was spooling a 14cm housing on an hx35 at 1600rpms and it lit in less than 2 seconds.

Did you plug the map sensor back in? The two people that ran the same turbo previously were saying it lit under 2k, so I'd say that leaves two options that could be causing the problem - (1) physical damage to the turbo, or (2) something wrong with your setup. You didn't change anything on the comp when you swapped turbos, did you? Do you have a full set of gauges? How is fuel pressure to the VP? I assume EGT's must be through the roof by the time the turbo spools?
Do you know anyone else in your area with a similar setup to yours? Spend an hour swapping the turbo onto another truck to try it out, and that would tell you whether (1) or (2) is the problem.

Really? I'd've figured EGT's would be higher than 1100 if it took that long to spool. You've already checked to be sure the wastegate is operating properly, right? Maybe try plugging it temporarily and taking it out for a run to be sure it's not opening prematurely...

Forgot about that - I think you mentioned the MBC before. I assume it's not happened to throw any codes about the same time as the turbo install? Like a dying VP happening to coincide with installing the turbo?
Have you checked the IC boots and IC for leaks already?
