HELP...Error 14
i have a smarty downloader for the 98.5-02 dodge. i used it on a buddy truck to let him try it, so the dowload got interupted cause of a loose wire on the OBD-II port. so i pushed in all the wires and restored the ecm to stock, it downloaded but after the download it said error 14. so i tried to put the smarty on my truck and it said VIN locked. how do i get it back on my truck, cause his truck is on the stock setting and so is mine but it says VIN lock. I want my power back, it still has a little cause of the injectors but it aint what it used to be

well smarty says to check the connections...i checked all of them. they said it has to return to stock w/o any errors. this dont help me, i am running out of options. i dont wanna swap out ecms on the trucks, i dont think the truck will like that to much. well its almost been a week w/o my smarty.

Sounds like the OBD port still has a bad connection. If it powers up the Smarty you have 12v and ground. There are 3 other wires that need connection, #2, 7 and I cant remember what the other one is unless I look at my pin out sheets at the shop. If any of those 3 have a bad connection you will get a error 14.

yeppers i bent the 2 slightly longer prongs in the center and it worked. no more error. now my truck is happily enjoying the smarty again but the tranny is about to die. it has some serious slippage.
