If my memory serves me right, the pre-filter/water seperator is 70 micron. I had looked into it well before I purchased it, but it has been a while now. You can wash it out, do not have to replace it. The fuel pressure gage also tells you when the filter is getting dirty.

At any rate, it keeps the sand out of it that the kids might put in. Not too many golf ***** will get through.

SX Performance fuel pumps... Just another one to throw in the mix. I spoke with Tim an engineer for Essex industries, he rated the pump to run for around 2000 hrs on our trucks. His only concerns with using the pump on diesel apps. was low sulfur fuel. They have had some pumps come back with damage from lack of lubricity. I asked if using a fuel modifier would help the pump, he agreed.

By the time you buy this pump and regulator, it would come close to the cost of the FASS II.

Hey Guys, Tim (Engineer from Essex Industries) called me back after looking into our application a little further. He suggested a pump they are building for Edelbrock. Here is the Link

Ref pump # 1792

This pump is rated for 2000 hrs. The pump's motor isn't cooled or lubricated by fuel and the pumps internal construction has no material that is not compatable with diesel fuel. The pump sells for around the same price Cummins wants for our stock lift pump.

I'm going to beta test this pump.

Long term evaluations are tough to keep up with, but I will post information regarding what is needed for install etc and overall first impressions. Down the road I will post updates with miles and psi readings.

Thanks to Tim for taking time to help, real nice guy.

I thought Rattletraps question was about a pre-pump filter on the original FASS. Sorry if I misunderstood.

Hook up your FASS II yet? Let us know results, please.

Hey no prob. RJ....I was starting to get a little turned around with this thread myself
Anyway the FASSII has not arrived yet, but when it does I'll be sure to post pictures. I'm mailing my TST box back to them today to see if they can get it fixed. I'm getting power to the box through #9 pin on the harness, but the green fueling light on the box never comes on....no changes in engine power

Just going to add this one to the list. http://www.weldonpumps.com/jl.html

A member on the board MySing418 has about 55,000 miles on this pump.

I received the Essex/Edelbrock pump today. Very nice workmanship, much stouter than our stock pumps by that I mean heavier. I most likely won't have a chance to do the install before Christmas. I will work on it when I get home. I will post pictures in my gallery.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Thought I would update this thread. I have pic's in my gallery of the pump installed. The pump is working great. With my mods I can only pull the fuel pressure down 2 psi. This pump has a internal regulator. I've had it set at 12 psi. In other words the higher the setting the more fuel is restricted. I'm going to run some test will a lower psi settings to see if fuel pressure drop at WOT changes.

I've had the fuel pressure set at 8 psi for last month. The psi only drops to 5 psi WOT. I'm going to leave it set there for now. The pump is still working great.

I just want to add here that I put a Carter 4601HP in the stock location & have always held 15 to 16 pounds at idle &11 to 12 at WOT. I have had it on for about 2 years now with NO problems & only 120 bucks. What gives with all these high priced pumps that yall are looking for? I also have 1/2 inch fuel line runnin from LP to Filter to VP44. That small line is what kills the carter pumps. That has been my experience anyway.

Carter pumps don't exactly give me the warm fuzzies as they make the stock lift pump. I paid $160 for my last lift pump from Cummins, which started to die in a short amount of time.

If the small line is what kills the pump, why are you only running 1/2 line from the lift pump to the vp44, instead of from the tank? Your pump is still pulling fuel thru the stock line.
