I just pulled a 1st gen headliner.
I just took the sun visors, all the trim, hooks, and light down.
It then came down easily.
I needed an extra set of hands to get it twist around a bit to get out the passenger door.
It was an ex-cab so it was big.

Hey, I pulled mine. It waas easy. Just remove your pillar covers, the visors and brackets and the over head console and it will drop dpwn. I didn't have to take mine all the way out, since its an extended cab it dropped enough from the rear attachment points I had enough room to install my lights.
Good luck pal

Pull the pillars, carefully - the clips on the back are easy to break
The rear pillars have a hateful little clip in them, I used a long flat blade screw driver to compress the metal clip that holds it to the cab.
Visors and overhead console unscrew, along with the grab bar. There may not be any screws on the covers over the ends of the grab bar, so pry them off gently. To fully remove the rears, you need to unbolt the seatbelt where it screw to the floor ( the free end, not the winder end). It will take a good size torx.
