Headache Rack Fixer Upper
Bought a used Headache Rack that was left laying in the dirt for way too long. It was really rusty especially where the rails would touch the bed. Needed a lot of wire wheeling and flap disc sanding. One of the lights was burned out and some wires were corroded. Its a really heavy duty rack with the bed rail caps and 2x2 tubing on top of the caps. I welded some D-Rings to it before priming and painting. Will put it on the truck ASAP.

Thanks. Just got lucky finding this rack. It came on a Diesel 2500 my nieghbor bought on EBAY, it originally was in Texas. He had it laying in the dirt for way too long, when I asked him what he was going to do with it he sold it to me. I figure I have about 6 hours labor in it. It was a nice find.

Looks almost just like mine. They offer the full bed rails as an option. I wished I would have gotten them, but oh well. I can't remember the name of the company that makes them, but they are out of either Midland or Odessa. The other option was to have it open for the vent window or not.

Before I bought mine I originally had planned on buying that one - but the cost and shipping was just a little too much for me at the time. I like the one I did end up with though as it has a couple optional items like a mount for an antenna/yellow warning light/extra lights to light up the bed or behind you. I took some photo's yesterday of my truck but the only one that came out decent is a side shot - little hard to see it clearly. I'll take some more today to see if I can get a better shot of it.

Dag Nabbit !! I forgot to weld on some Antenna tabs. Oh well guess I can just grind a couple of spots and redo it. I am unsure as to how to wire the clear lights. Do I connect them to my backup lights or should I somehow make them cargo lights? How do you guys have yours? What do you guys think is best?

Depending on the wattage of the lights - you could probably wire them directly to your bed cargo light or you could wire them seperately with a toggle switch (fused) - which is what I would recommend. This would give you the option of turning them on when ever you wanted without lighting up the interior of the cab.
