head studs?

I work in a large machine shop and have access to all kinds of metals and heat treating, so my ? is what makes after market head studs so special like ARP? If it is as simple as a special alloy that has been heat treated I can do that for nearly nothing. any info on this would be great thanks

If you can, get there current calalog or go to there website. They have a very detailed explanation of there process and even some of thier metal alloys. To answer your question, it is not just a bunch of heat treated materials. Read the catalog....it has a lot of information!

I checked out the web site and could not find the info. Does anyone have the catalog with the info. Not for sure but I thought I read some where that they use a 4130 alloy steel that is heat treated

You have to download the whole catalog or at least open it in another browser window via adobe. The info is there...about 20 pages of it.

Here is the link for there catalog. Hopefully I am not breaking rules.
