Pull one bolt out at a time, bottom tap the hole and blow it out and clean it out real good, thread the stud in and once it hits the bottom back it off 1/4-1/2 a turn, put moly lube all over the threads and washer, slowly torque it down to 120ft lbs. making sure you use one constant motion. Once you do all 26 I recommend laying on the flat ground and taking a couple of shots cause your back is gonna be killing you. At least mine was and I'm only 21.

ARP didn't say to bottom tap my head studs? Did I mess it up? What is the reason to do this???

It's to get the stud down in the block as far as you can, the factory holes are drilled but most of them are not threaded all the way to the bottom so you tap them out all the way and clean the threads up. And your stud will get as much of it's threads in contact as possible. So people havent done it and been fine though

One of the reasons is it helps clean the existing threads out of any oil and crud that might be in there. The other reason is that the more threads you have in the block, the better clamping force you'll have and less chance of stripping the block out since you'll have a larger surface area where the torque is being applied. I got lucky and didn't have to but most people do.

Is this a "MUST" to do this? I keep lifting my head and getting air into the coolant!!! Would that cause my head to lift at 40 psi? My new block and head were supose to be machined!!!!

Nah. That wouldn't cause it to lift like that. Only thing bottom tapping does is allow for more area to hold the torque. What did you torque your studs down to? I put mine at 120ft lbs. with the moly lube that ARP gave me.

Also, I think something else is going goofy because with the little bit of mods you have I wouldn't have even thought about putting studs in. Only reason I did mine was because I'm spraying water/meth now. I'd be looking at something else.

I'm torqued to 122 lbs. What else would cause this? The reason I know there is something going on is because I had my rad flushed clean and now there is a black oily film when I take the rad cap off and wipe my finger on the inside of the rad!!! I also have had many bubbles come into my heating system. Any ideas before I install a II Silver 62 and really wreck stuff???

My coolant is still like new but there is that film on the inside neck of my rad. I don 't want it to get worse after I put on my bigger turbo!!!
