Yea i raced them from a light and blew the doors off them i normal drive fast so i was doin 80 on the way home. I get on my road and at a rr track where i usually just drive right over i stop for some reason and my oil pressure drops. so i babied her home and popped the hood. What a mess. Trust me you dont wanna blow your gasket its a pain in the a&& to clean out the oil in the radiator.

I've been running 45psi for a couple of years without any problems. Just make sure the engine is warm before you hot dog it.

Question

Ok, How many of you guys are running 40psi or over on the stock gasket w/out studs or anything else? This has me a little worried now

M 94 frequently gets up to 45-46 psi with the stock head gasket and has spent a lot of time at 40-42 psi......I have had no problems but I only run my timing advance at 16* to play it safe.

Anyone have an idea of what the timing is on a 24v With a COMP?

Neil, you're running an ETH and if you want to run a high boost and you're running either a Comp, EZ or propane, watch out. The ETH motors have more advanced timing and higher compression than ETC motors. Even a stock ETH can blow the head gasket relatively easy. You can't compare them to ETCs or 12Vs. Head gaskets, limited fueling of the VP44, and weak stock clutches have been known issues with the ETH for 5 years.

I don't personally know how much studs help. Many caim they stop the problem. They sure couldn't hurt. I had my ETH o-ringed almost 4 years ago, when a deal came by which I couldn't pass up. This was after blowing the head gasket about a year previous to that time while beta testing the EZ. Haven't had any problems since.

fwiw. i've been running 50+ psi for about four or five months now, just waiting to blow the thing. not a whole lot of miles, but plenty of "test drives". i always let er get warm first though. i've got a .020 over gasket too although i don't know how much that helps. and now that i'm off winter fuel, i'm seeing 55. THAT'S got me worried. oh yeah, no studs. knock on wood.

Well I have no probs with 38psi now, I guess we'll see how it does with the Comp. My 'weak' stock clutch is holding 330/782, but that will probably change soon. I talked to Paul at HTT and asked him the same question. He said when you get around 48psi is when problems start. The turbo is coming to me set at 38psi with an adjustable wastegate. The head gasket will either hold or it won't I guess.

Anyway, I'm still wastegated at 40 psi, but now I have Van Haisley's fire rings and 12mm head studs.
What boost can you hit without the COMP? My planned setup to be is a set of Mach 1.6's, MAD ecm and a Dodgezilla.
