Head Gasket

Head Gasket
Can someone please tell me at what HP level the stock head gasket is ready to be kicked out? My truck is mainly used for dragging a 5th wheel around. I would never here the end of it from my better half if we broke down due to a head gasket failure (not to mention the cost of having to tow the truck and 5'er in for a repair). In my case reliabilty is KEY!

513 HP & 1140 TQ

Re:Head Gasket
My first one let loose at about 400hp, (no drugs either) which is well below your 513. However when I replaced it, I torqued it to 130#, instead of the factorys 75#'s and 1/4 turn. Now I'm up near/at/or above 500hp and 50+ psi boost, and still goin' strong. Next spring it WILL be o-ringed for sure though.

Later, Rob

Re:Head Gasket
Rob, How much timing were you running at the first failure you had? I'm at 16* and thinking hard about o-ringing the head this winter. I hate surprises while on the road.

Dunno, I had the comp box off , or real low, I can't really remember where the darn thing was, I assume your a 12v? You may want to check around to see if the what I said above works for 12v's also, I'm not sure.

Later, Rob
