I used the 351 elbow

and clocked the intake side so it exits on the bottom

and had to lock the gate shut, as I could not use the actuator, after clocking the turbo

The turbo will move just a little closer to the shock tower, the thickness of a T3 to WGMT flange adapter, otherwise the exhaust is in the same spot.

While your keeping the CW I would see about putting a spring on the WG bolt, the DP with the WG shut on the HE351 is pretty crazy.

If using the VGT with the stock electric control box on it, will it not be in the way of the shock tower?
Anybody out there have pics of the VGT with the electric control box on it in a 2nd gen truck.?

edventually I will, I only see 40psi now at WOT on level6, and I seldom ever run at theses conditions, its basically a grocery getter

At 40 psi (based on what I have seen) your DP could easily be over 80 psi!

I run about 2:1 (accelerating) until 55-60 psi of DP then the WG opens from DP, if you have to blocked like you do I am sure it passes clean thru 2:1 above about 35 psi. Towing and not accelerating at 30 psi of boost the DP will be over 50 if the rpms are high enough, this happens as low as 2,200 rpms.

DP doesn't blow HG's, but it does make scavenging of the cylinders inefficent, which leads to higher cylinder pressures, which does bow HG's.

I dont have a dp gauge, I could be wrong but I thought I saw a post on an HE351 that it was almost 1:1 at 45psi. thanks for the heads up. I'll have to go look again or hook up my own gauge to see

A HE351 is only 1:1 at contant rpm at about 1200-1500 rpms and less than 10 psi of boost.

Diesel Power Mag -- VGT

Found where Diesel Power Mag did an article on a 99 dodge that was converted to a HE351VGT with the Fleece controller. It was actually converted over at Fleece Performance shop. The article answered a few questions and had some decent pics. If you want to read the article go to Diesel Power Mag and search (Equipping A '99 Dodge Ram With A Variable-Geometry Turbo)
