Having been through the same situation with my trucks, and seeing a bunch of others do what yours did, I was suspect of the gauge and pyro since you posted. We all have to go through this stuff sometimes and as you already pointed out, now you know it can happen! 
As I told you before, IMO,.....the newer Isspro Gauges with the "little boxes" aren't as "trouble-free" as the older ones that didn't have them,.....like the Isspro Gauges I have in my 1996. Both Bobby and myself have our share of trouble with the new Isspro Oil Pressure Gauges. I still like the Isspro Gauges though and IMO their customer service is the best in the industry.
